I wasn't really loving this book until the end. The plot definitely kept me reading, but I didn't enjoy the book as much as the first one. Still, the ending made this book and that's why I have to give it four stars. It was such a cliff hanger, and I'm psyched for the next book.
The main reason I didn't love the book was Jodi and the love triangle. I like Jodi, but she annoyed me in this book. Well, how she was written. I was so confused on her feelings, because 1/2 of them weren't real, but I couldn't tell. The book was really confusing in the middle. I don't like Alex, either. He was jealous and untrusting of Jodi, and I didn't like how he treated her or their relationship. He was so hot and cold, and I couldn't tell if he was acting or not. Chase was..interesting. I liked him, though. He was mysterious and intriguing, and a well written character. All of the other background characters were poorly developed and lacked not personality, but life. I didn't believe in them.
The writing wasn't great. Things weren't well explained, but it is hard to write a book when the characters are being controlled. I couldn't tell when they were being controlled or when they were themselves. The pacing and plot was good, though. The ending, again, was the best. The book perfectly built up to a fight scene, and the twist at the end was unexpected. I liked it because it wasn't a happy-go-lucky ending and a lot of questions were brought up. I hope the next book is great, though, and I can't wait to read it.
